Sometimes, I notice waves, unevenness, or bubbles in documents after laminating. This not only affects the appearance but can also affect usability. What exactly is causing this?
1. Why is the paper uneven after laminating?
(1) Inappropriate temperature
Temperature is too low: The film is not completely melted, the adhesive is not firmly attached, and it is easy to have waves.
Temperature is too high: The paper and film are overheated, and it is easy to bubble or deform.
(2) Wrong speed
The laminator feeds the paper too fast, and the film comes out before it is fully bonded; if it feeds too slowly, it may overheat.
(3) Poor film quality
Cheap laminating pouch films are prone to uneven thickness and become uneven after heating.
(4) Improper placement
The documents are not aligned or placed crookedly, which can easily cause wavy edges or bubbles after laminating.

2. How to solve it?
(1) Adjust the temperature and speed
It depends on the thickness of the film you are using. Generally, 90-120℃ is suitable for films of 80-125 microns.
If it is uneven, try raising the temperature by 5℃ or reducing the speed a little to make the film and paper stick more firmly.
(2) Replace with a better film
It is recommended to use films produced by large manufacturers, such as YIDU's heat laminating film, which has stable quality and will seal flatter.
(3) Align documents before laminating
Align the edges of the paper and film, and try to place them in the middle of the laminator, avoiding any skewing.
(4) Flatten after laminating
The documents that have just been laminated are still hot, so you can press them with a book. They will become flatter after cooling.
3. How to avoid this in daily life?
Preheat thoroughly: Wait until the machine temperature stabilizes before laminating.
Choose the right film: 80-100 microns is sufficient for common documents, and thicker ones can be used for important documents.
Keep the machine clean: Dust and residual glue in the machine will also affect the flatness.
If the documents are not flat after laminating, it is mostly due to problems with temperature, speed or film quality. Adjust the machine well and use good quality film, and the laminated documents will be flat and beautiful.
