Laminating is a very practical method for daily office work, teaching, and document storage. It not only makes documents more sturdy, waterproof, and stain-resistant, but also helps maintain clear colors and prevents fading for a long time.

So, what is the ideal temperature for laminating documents with film? Today, YIDU factory, with 32 years of experience in heat-sealing film production, will provide you with a detailed answer.

1. Laminating temperature is related to material structure.

The common laminating film structure is PET + EVA:

PET layer: provides protection and support;

EVA layer: melts and bonds the document when heated.

The melting point of the EVA adhesive layer is typically between 90℃ and 130℃. Too low a temperature will result in weak adhesion or air bubbles, while too high a temperature can easily cause the film surface to fog up, curl, or even deform.

Therefore, YIDU recommends: For ordinary office documents (80mic–100mic): Recommended temperature 100℃–110℃

For thick films or cards (125mic–150mic): Recommended temperature 110℃–130℃

For high-thickness protective films (175mic–250mic): Recommended temperature 120℃–140℃

2. Temperature and laminating machine speed must be coordinated.

Besides temperature, laminating speed is also crucial. Too high a speed will result in the EVA layer not fully melting before passing through the machine, leading to poor sealing or bubbling; too low a speed will cause yellowing or edge lifting due to prolonged heating.

YIDU recommends adjusting the machine speed according to different film thicknesses to ensure even heating and a strong seal.

3. Recommendations for selecting different thicknesses of laminating film.

Different document types can be fitted with different thicknesses of laminating film:

Document Type

Recommended Thickness

Suggested Temperature

Regular Documents / Teaching Materials

80mic–100mic

100–110℃

ID Cards / Menus / Brochures

125mic

110–120℃

Posters / Photos / Certificates

150mic

120–130℃

Long-Term Archive Documents

175mic–250mic

125–140℃

Temperature is a key factor in the effectiveness of laminating film. By mastering the correct temperature range and choosing high-quality laminating film, you can achieve smooth, clear, and durable documents.

YIDU reminds you: Temperature should be adjusted flexibly depending on the thickness and intended use.
