With the growing use of protective films, products like screen protectors and PET films have developed quickly, especially in the electronics industry. PET protective film is a type of protective film made from special polyethylene (PE) plastic.

PET protective films are clear and colorless, with a tough surface. Depending on the source, their surface hardness typically ranges from 3H to 4H, with harder surfaces offering better wear resistance. They also have a light transmittance of over 90%, which not only improves visibility when using devices but also helps protect the eyes.

PET protective films are very popular in the electronics industry, and they come in different thicknesses for various applications, ranging from 30μm to 245μm. Let's take a look at the features and main uses of PET protective films based on their thickness.

A3 Laminating Film

30μm PET Protective Film: Even though it's thin, it has good shear resistance and strong adhesive strength. It's great for protecting LCD screens and securing nameplates.

50μm-60μm PET Protective Film: These lightweight films offer good adhesion and are used for attaching nameplates, microphone accessories, and securing digital camera reflective films.

80μm PET Protective Film: With good adhesive capabilities, this thickness is ideal for smooth surfaces, securing LCD frames and camera buttons.

100μm PET Protective Film: This film has good adhesive strength on smooth surfaces and is mainly used to secure LCD backlight modules.

125μm PET Protective Film: Known for its overall good performance, it's commonly used for fixing windows, lenses, and LCD modules in digital cameras.

150μm PET Protective Film: This film maintains good adhesion in high and low temperatures, making it suitable for sealing strips and resisting calcium carbonate.

160μm PET Protective Film: This thickness has excellent shear strength and temperature resistance, ideal for securing components in electronics like mobile phone windows and batteries.

200μm PET Protective Film: Extremely temperature-resistant, this film is used for fixing windows, lenses, batteries, and memory cards in digital cameras.

240μm PET Protective Film: Thicker and harder, it's suitable for industrial applications like fixing molds and decorative parts in furniture and electronics.

What About PET Release Film?

PET release film, also known as PET silicone oil film, has a layer of silicone oil on its surface to reduce adhesion. It comes in single-sided and double-sided options and can be classified by release force into light, medium, and heavy types. Common thicknesses include 0.012mm, 0.019mm, and more.

Manufacturers of PET release films use large machines to cut and roll the film as needed. These films are widely used in packaging, printing, screen printing, and various other industries.

PET release films are often used to isolate sticky materials and are commonly found in electronics, printing consumables, reflective materials, and self-adhesive products.
