If you've ever held a soft, smooth box or a non-shiny business card, chances are it was finished with matte lamination.
First: What Is Matte Lamination?
Matte lamination is a thin plastic film applied to the surface of printed materials (like boxes, cards, or brochures). It gives a non-glossy, smooth finish. It looks soft, feels premium, and doesn't reflect light like glossy lamination.
How to Make Something Matte Laminated?
1. Print the Design
First, the design is printed on paper, cardboard, or packaging material - using offset or digital printing.
2. Choose Matte Lamination Film
After printing, a special matte lamination film is selected. This film has a dull, non-reflective surface. It can be made of materials like BOPP or PET.

3. Apply the Film (Laminating Machine)
Using a hot laminating machine, the matte film is pressed onto the printed surface using heat and pressure. This seals the film on top of the paper.
